Product Detail
Metaltines is an amazing collection of metal lamellaphones designed by master instrument inventor Bart Hopkin. It features 4 distinct instruments with unique shapes and mechanics, all sharing a sharp yet richly resonant metal sound. Included are the mallet K1 & K2, Sit or Play, and T - Rod - on - Tine. We offer a wide range of playable articulations, sound - design textures, pads, drones, and multiple microphone/channel options for complete musical freedom. The Mallet K1 and K2 are mallet kalimbas with large metal keys. Playing with mallets emphasizes overtones, with the larger K1 having a clangy overtone mix and the smaller K2 making a great bass. Both have two mic positions, and K2 also has a direct line out. Sit or Play consists of three benches with circular steel tongue drums in the seats. The combination of bench tops as soundboards and air resonance under the seats enhances the tone. It supports various articulations with two mic positions. T - Rod - on - Tine has hardened - steel threaded rods attached to spring - steel tines, producing multiple frequencies. Different mallet types can bring out a wide range of sounds. We've sampled tine plucks and hand slaps with two stereo mic positions. There are also many custom FX presets and ambient content for creative freedom. The Kontakt interface has automation - ready sound - shaping controls, an adaptable LFO system, a customizable arpeggiator, and a key and scale lock system. The modular FX rack panel has 18 DSP effect modules. The reverb effect includes various impulse responses. The library comes with 6 master presets and 20 custom sound - designed FX and ambient presets. It's in 24 - bit, 48 kHz Stereo Lossless NCW Format, with 11,442 stereo samples and 7.05 GB installed. It's made for the free Kontakt Player (version 6+), Komplete Kontrol, and Native Instruments' S - Series Keyboards and NKS software and hardware, and works with the Kontakt 'Libraries' browser and Native Access.
Using the Metaltines is a breeze. First, make sure your system meets the requirements. Install the library through the Native Instruments Service Center app and register the serial number online. For the Mallet K1 and K2, you can use the mallets to play. Experiment with different mallet strikes to get various overtone effects. The Sit or Play benches are great for a unique playing experience. Just sit on them and use different articulation methods like hard or soft mallets, fingers, etc. When using the T - Rod - on - Tine, try different mallet types to explore a wide range of sounds. In the Kontakt interface, you have full control over sound - shaping. Adjust swell, attack, release, and other parameters to create your desired sound. The LFO system and arpeggiator can add more dynamics to your music. The FX rack panel allows you to assign different DSP effect modules. Be careful when using the reverb effect as different impulse responses can change the sound significantly. For maintenance, keep your software up - to - date. Since it's a digital product, there's no physical maintenance, but make sure your hard drive has enough space and is in good condition. And always have a stable broadband connection for any future updates or installations.
