Product Detail
The Arousor, crafted by Empirical Labs - the creators of the Distressor, is the sole classic knee compressor plugin out there. It's been over 20 years since Empirical Labs launched its first compressor, the Distressor. Since then, they've received numerous requests for a top - notch in - the - box compressor plugin with the smooth sound and easy - to - use nature of their award - winning hardware compressors. We're confident the 20 + year wait was worth it! The advanced detector sidechain allows you to precisely set where compression triggers using 2 bands of sidechain EQ. It expands the Distressor's preset detection filter circuits into a controllable hi - pass and parametric sidechain, letting you control the compression trigger point on the frequency spectrum without losing low - end. The Rivet mode offers maximum gain reduction with familiar ratios from the Distressor. Modeled after the Distressor's Nuke Ratio, it provides the steepest compression ratio for room mics and more. With Attack Modification (AtMod), you can fine - tune the compression envelope's attack curve. The AtMod knob slows the initial attack slope, adding more transients to the track, whether it's more snap on the snare or thump on the electric bass, without sacrificing desired compression. The soft clipper adds vintage - style harmonic distortion to any track. You can have complete control over total harmonic distortion, from subtle to extreme, without adjusting the Arousor's input level. In Arousor 3.2, there's native Apple Silicon (M1/M2) compatibility, major and minor bug fixes, support for preset copy/paste to and from Arousor LT (note: internal fixed settings on Arousor LT won't change if copied from Arousor), clickable LEDs are now square, and there are two new presets: 'Hogarth Voc2' and 'Evil Joes FuzzBass'.
Using the Arousor 3.2 is a breeze. To set the compression trigger, use the advanced detector sidechain. Just adjust the 2 bands of sidechain EQ to get the exact point on the frequency spectrum where you want compression to start. For maximum gain reduction, switch to the Rivet mode. It's great for room mics and gives you the ratios you're used to from the Distressor. If you want to add more transients to your track, use the Attack Modification (AtMod) knob. It lets you fine - tune the attack curve of the compression envelope. To add some vintage - style distortion, turn the soft clipper knob. You can control the amount of total harmonic distortion without changing the input level. When using presets, you can copy and paste between Arousor and Arousor LT, but remember that the internal fixed settings on Arousor LT won't change if copied from Arousor. As for maintenance, keep your software updated to ensure it runs smoothly. This will also take care of any major or minor bugs that might pop up. Enjoy using your Arousor 3.2!
