Limited - S is a top - notch De - Esser, Enhancer, and harshness controller ideal for both mixing and mastering. Unlike typical de - essers and dynamic EQs, it uses a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter to precisely calculate the signal envelope at all times. No need to fiddle with attack and decay settings! When Threshold and Ratio are set right, it works transparently, reducing sibilance effectively. It's a 'fixed threshold' de - esser, like a limiter, targeting only the loudest sibilance peaks. On stereo tracks, it can work on the full mix, mids, sides, left, or right. The High Lift control adds brightness while taming excessive high frequencies, great for vocals or mastering. It also has a Sidechain input to 'duck' highs in one signal based on another. And it automatically switches to mono or stereo to save CPU.
How to use: First, set the Threshold and Ratio according to your audio needs. For basic de - essing, start with moderate settings and adjust until you get the right amount of sibilance reduction. When using on stereo tracks, choose the appropriate mode (full mix, mids, sides, left, or right) based on your goal. If you want to add brightness, use the High Lift control. To use the Sidechain input, connect the signal source that will trigger the 'ducking' effect. Note: Don't set the Threshold too low or the Ratio too high, as it might cause over - compression. Also, when using the Sidechain, make sure the signal levels are balanced. Maintenance: There's not much maintenance required.
