Product Detail

The SideMinder 2 is an amazing dynamic stereo width enhancer from Raising Jake Studios. Big and wide stereo mixes are cool, but they can mess up when played on a single speaker. This happens when left and right channels have out - of - phase signals that cancel each other in mono. Many stereo image enhancers make this problem worse. But SideMinder 2 can fix this stereo imaging issue! It's the second - generation plugin that boosts the width of a stereo track, bus, or master mix without causing polarity inversion. It uses lookahead FIR correlation detectors to listen to the stereo material. When negative correlation starts, it precisely narrows the stereo image. This way, you can increase the overall stereo width while keeping mono compatibility. Typical'mid/side' compression can't achieve this effect, and SideMinder 2 doesn't change the signal's overall dynamics. By watching and hearing what it does to the signal, you can make better mixing and mastering choices for the best sound on any system. The width enhancer section has a 'Bass Mono' control. It narrows the stereo image below the chosen cutoff frequency, centering the bass and giving the sound a solid feel, which is super important for vinyl mastering. Even when processing is bypassed, the Output Correlation meter stays on to show the plugin's effect before and after processing.

Using SideMinder 2 is easy. First, add it to your stereo track, bus, or master mix. Let it work its magic to increase the stereo width. Keep an eye on the Output Correlation meter. If it shows negative correlation, SideMinder 2 will automatically narrow the stereo image to maintain mono compatibility. For the 'Bass Mono' control, set your desired cutoff frequency to center the bass and get a more solid sound, especially useful when mastering for vinyl. When you don't want the plugin to process the signal, just bypass it, but note that the Output Correlation meter will still show the effect. There aren't many special maintenance steps. Just make sure your audio software and SideMinder 2 are up - to - date to ensure smooth operation. Also, don't over - rely on extreme settings as it might affect the natural sound of your mix.
