Product Detail

The Slate Digital FG-116 Blue Series is a remarkable recreation and custom mod of the highly sought-after Rev A Blue FET Compressor. It authentically captures the tone of two vintage 'Rev A' FET limiting amplifiers and offers two modernized versions of the classic FET circuit. With both vintage and modern tones, along with useful features like hi pass detection and a parallel mix knob, it's a versatile tool for all your mixes. The Vintage Circuit 1 has a classic'mid-forward' character, adding a wonderful color to the upper midrange and a warm presence to vocals, bass, drums, and guitars. It has a softer top and bottom end compared to the Black 116 and more articulate transients. Vintage Circuit 2, modeled after an updated 'Rev A' unit, has bigger lows and smoother mids and highs, sounding great on drum room mics and vocals needing more 'bigness'. For modern FET limiting, Modern Circuit 1 has a slow attack, ideal for close drum mics and bass guitars. Modern Circuit 2 offers a more breathable and punchy bottom end and a smoother top - end response, suitable for drum busses and full mixes. The parallel compression feature simplifies the process with a Mix control. You can enhance the punch of drum tracks without over - compression, and the Hi - Pass filter retains low - frequency impact while controlling dynamics.

Using the Slate Digital FG-116 Blue Series is easy. For vintage tones, you can choose between Vintage Circuit 1 and 2. If you want that classic'mid - forward' sound and warm presence, go for Circuit 1. It works great on vocals, bass, drums, and guitars. Circuit 2 is better for drum room mics and vocals that need more 'bigness'. When using the modern circuits, set Modern Circuit 1 with the slowest attack and fastest release on close drum mics or bass guitars for different effects. Back down the release to tighten things up on kick drums. Modern Circuit 2 is awesome for drum busses and full mixes with the Hi Pass filter on. For parallel compression, dial in heavy compression and then adjust the mix knob to about 25% to enhance the punch of drum tracks. Remember to handle the unit gently. Keep it in a dry and clean place to avoid damage. If there are any issues, refer to the official manual or contact customer support.
