The Matrix display in the top - left helps you program a pattern. You can also use the bottom keys in Pattern Edit mode. There are handy features like copying one pattern to another and simple controls to adjust pattern playback: normal, double, half, or triplet time, and a swing control similar to classic MPCs and other vintage drum machines/samplers.
