Founded in 1828 by Ignaz Bösendorfer, Bösendorfer is the oldest active piano maker, renowned for crafting some of the world's finest instruments. The 9’6” Model 290 Imperial is celebrated for its powerful soundboard and extended keyboard with a bottom C0, offering a full eight - octave range of 97 keys. Sometimes, extra keys are hidden under a hinged lid or have reversed - coloured white keys. These extra keys enhance resonance, creating a fuller tone when the damper pedal is depressed, and are playable in the VIENNA GRAND. Recorded at the Grammy - awarded Hansahaus Studios in Germany, great care was taken to capture the Bösendorfer's dynamic range, especially its powerful low end, using additional lower - register microphones.
