Product Detail

Nektar BOLT is the first harmonics synthesizer designed for VST/AU compatible DAW platforms. With its unique harmonics oscillators, you can effortlessly transform from gentle sine waves to overtone - rich pulse chains just by turning a knob. The user - friendly interface of BOLT encourages quick sound experimentation. You don't need a filter; everything happens right in the oscillator, allowing you to experience new sounds at amazing speed. ### Unique Synthesis Enjoy BOLT's new harmonics synthesis engine that produces a rich, organic sound full of unique character, without the need for a traditional filter. ### Easy to Use You don't need a sound design degree. BOLT's streamlined interface makes it fun to tweak your own sounds. ### Fresh Sounds BOLT comes with over 500 factory and artist patches suitable for all genres, from lush pads to deep basses, screaming leads to sound effects. ### Shape It BOLT's synthesis engine creates a sound's overtone structure directly in the oscillator. Unlike typical subtractive synthesizers, there's no filter section. The unique harmonics oscillator does it all. By turning the HARMONICS and ROLLOFF knobs, you can change a wave's shape and core sound from a subtle sine to a bright pulse chain. Use the ODD switch to create odd harmonics only, and when you add the DEEP setting, the waveforms will resemble saw or square shapes (with ODD active). Each oscillator also has its own amplitude envelope, giving you everything you need to create the core sound. ### Modulate It Modulation brings sounds to life. BOLT offers four powerful modulation generators: 3 LFOs and one modulation envelope generator, providing a wide range of modulation possibilities. Whether you want snappy transients or to modulate different aspects of the sound simultaneously, you can do it all. The modulation generators can even modulate each other. With pre - assigned modulation targets, it's easy to experiment. The MODULATION EG is modeled after classic ADSR envelopes, covering a range from ultra - snappy and percussive to lush soundscapes. The 4 modulation targets can be assigned to many destinations, including LFO frequency and intensity. BOLT's low - frequency oscillators have an extended range from 0.01 Hz up to 10 kHz, going well into the audible range for extreme modulation effects like amplitude and frequency modulation. You can choose from 13 different waveforms, including random and stepped waves. Switch Cycle off to use the LFOs as additional auxiliary envelopes or sync them to the beat. Each LFO can be synced differently, allowing you to create interesting poly - rhythms and endless new modulation combinations. ### Refine It Four integrated effects processors (EQ, Chorus, Delay, and Reverb) make BOLT's patches ready for your productions. These effects are optimized for ease of use, with only 3 parameters per processor for quick results. You'll still find enough tweakability, such as tempo sync for the DELAY or parametric and bandpass modes for the EQ. ### Features - Unique new harmonics synthesis - 4 oscillators (2 main, 2 sub) - White noise generator per oscillator - Unison Voice Double: Stack up to 4 instances - Frequency modulation (FM) - X - Mod: cross - modulation - Overdrive stage for each oscillator - ADSR envelope per oscillator - 1 Modulation envelope generator - 3 LFOs (13 waveforms & MIDI sync) - 4 modulation targets per source (LFO 1 - 3, Mod EG) - 4 FX processors: EQ, Chorus, Delay & Reverb - Support for multiple sample rates - Automatic 2 - stage protection limiter - Up to 16 voice polyphony - Poly and mono modes - Over 500 factory and artist patches included ### System Requirements Your computer should run Windows (64 - bit) version 7, 8, 10 or higher, or Mac OS X 10.9 or higher. You also need any host DAW application that supports VST 2.4, VST 3 or AU Instrument Plug - Ins. (Other requirements depend on the DAW software and audio interface, so check the respective manuals for details.)

Using Nektar BOLT is a breeze. First, make sure your computer meets the system requirements, running either Windows 64 - bit version 7 or higher or Mac OS X 10.9 or higher, and has a DAW application that supports VST 2.4, VST 3, or AU Instrument Plug - Ins. To start creating sounds, turn on BOLT in your DAW. You can use the over 500 factory and artist patches as a starting point. If you want to shape your own sounds, use the unique harmonics oscillator. Just turn the HARMONICS and ROLLOFF knobs to change the wave's shape and core sound. The ODD switch can create odd harmonics, and adding the DEEP setting will give you waveforms like saw or square shapes. For modulation, use the 3 LFOs and 1 modulation envelope generator. You can easily experiment as the modulation targets are pre - assigned. Try different waveforms for the LFOs, switch Cycle off to use them as auxiliary envelopes, or sync them to the beat for interesting rhythms. The four integrated effects processors (EQ, Chorus, Delay, and Reverb) are there to refine your sounds. With only 3 parameters per processor, you can quickly get the results you want. Don't forget to explore the additional tweakability like tempo sync for the DELAY or different modes for the EQ. As for maintenance, keep your computer's operating system and DAW software up - to - date. Also, make sure to regularly check for any updates for BOLT itself. This will ensure that you get the best performance and access to new features. Avoid using BOLT on a computer with a lot of background processes running, as it might affect its performance. And if you encounter any issues, refer to the manuals of your DAW software and audio interface, as some requirements depend on them.
