In the 1970s, Martin Guitar crafted a special all - black lacquered D - 35 for country legend Johnny Cash. Cash played this custom guitar on stage for 20 years. In 2006, a commemorative D - 35 Johnny Cash edition was released. The 2019 DX Johnny Cash pays homage to this rich history. Developed with John Carter Cash and the Cash Foundation team, it features a classic Dreadnought body. The top, back, and sides are made of Jett black high - pressure laminate (HPL). Just like the earlier edition, it has a custom fingerboard with star inlays and the “CASH” logo. Johnny Cash’s signature graces the rosette and label. This guitar comes with Fishman® MX electronics, a soft gig bag embroidered with the “CASH” logo, and is strung with Martin’s Authentic Acoustic Lifespan® 2.0 strings. Using this Martin DX Johnny Cash Edition guitar is a breeze. First, take it out of the gig bag carefully. The bag has the cool “CASH” logo on it. Plug in the Fishman® MX electronics if you want to play through an amplifier. You'll love the sound it produces. When you're done playing, put the guitar back in the bag gently. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry place. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or in very humid areas. Check the strings regularly. The Martin Authentic Acoustic Lifespan® 2.0 strings are great, but they'll need to be replaced after some time. And don't forget to clean the body of the guitar with a soft cloth now and then to keep it looking shiny and new.
