Intimate Felt Piano
The FELT 54 is a unique intimate felt piano. Unlike the common bright and harmonically complex upright pianos, it offers a distinct character.
It's stereo - sampled from a 1975 felt - customized upright Yamaha U3. The piano has been modified to make the tone purer while keeping its harmonic richness. A 0.8mm felt strip was added between the hammers and strings, and the middle - section tone was simplified by muting 2 out of 3 strings per note.
Three microphones were used to capture the instrument, creating a very immersive stereo image. This piano covers a 54 - note range, which is the sweet spot of this particular piano.

Using the HOSS Audio Felt 54 is quite straightforward. First, connect it to your audio system. You can play it just like a regular piano, but with the unique sound that this instrument offers. The 5 velocities per root note give you different levels of expression, so try varying your touch on the keys. You can adjust the EQ using the 3 knobs to customize the sound according to your preference. The pedal up/down samples add to the realism, so don't forget to use them. For the tape delay and the special TAPE module, play around with the knobs to create different effects. When it comes to maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean environment. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If there are any issues with the samples or the sounds, check the connection to your audio system and make sure your software is up - to - date.
