Product Detail
The Mercury-6 is an amazing recreation of the iconic Jupiter-6 analog synthesizer, just in time for its 40th anniversary! The Jupiter-6, between the Jupiter-4 and Jupiter-8, was often overlooked but has become one of Roland's most sought - after classic synths due to its unique dark and complex sound. It was released in 1983 as a more affordable option to the Jupiter-8. The Jupiter-6 had a true multimode filter, allowing for 24 dB/oct lowpass, 24 dB/oct highpass, or 12 dB/oct bandpass modes, giving it a more aggressive sound suitable for techno and electro. It also had features like multiple simultaneous waveforms in VCOs, extensive modulation possibilities, and was one of the first synths with MIDI. However, it had drawbacks such as mono output and limited polyphony. Cherry Audio's Mercury-6 takes the best of the Jupiter-6 and enhances it for today's DAW production. It adds velocity sensitivity, improves split mode, and has a layer mode with stereo panning, detuning, and sustain. With 16 - note polyphony, it won't run out of voices easily. The arpeggiator has a Random mode and MIDI tempo sync. There's also a chord memory mode and improved LFO functionality. An integrated studio - quality effects panel with distortion, phaser, flanger/chorus, delay, and reverb is included. With over 500 presets designed by experts, it's perfect for both vintage synth lovers and modern music producers.
Using the Mercury-6 is a breeze. First, explore the extensive preset library to get some quick inspiration. If you want to create your own sounds, start by adjusting the VCOs to select different waveforms like triangle, ramp sawtooth, etc. The multimode filter gives you different sound shaping options, so play around with the lowpass, highpass, and bandpass modes. For more complex sounds, use the layer mode to stack two different sounds. You can control panning, detuning, and sustain for each layer. The arpeggiator is great for creating rhythmic patterns, and you can choose from different modes like the hidden Down/Up mode, the new Random mode, and sync it with MIDI tempo. The chord memory mode lets you store multiple notes and play them with a single key. When it comes to effects, the integrated studio - quality panel offers distortion, phaser, flanger/chorus, delay, and reverb. Adjust the settings according to your needs. As for maintenance, since it's a software synth, make sure your computer meets the recommended system requirements. Keep your DAW and the Mercury-6 software up - to - date to ensure optimal performance. And don't forget to back up your custom presets regularly in case of any issues.
