The allure of the choir's deepest voices is truly captivating. Imagine six contrabass singers filling Synchron Stage Vienna's large Stage A with a powerful low C sound - it's utterly mesmerizing, and they can go even lower! Basso Profondo singers, known as oktavists, have rich, resonant, and extremely deep voices, reaching notes as low as two octaves below middle C. Our team was thrilled to capture an ensemble of these talented vocalists. This collection was inspired by the choral recordings for Amazon Prime's 'The Rings of Power'. In 2020 and 2021, choirs were recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna for Bear McCreary's score. Initially, we doubted if we could meet the composer's demand for a basso profondo choir, but Vienna's musical environment helped us assemble an amazing group. The enthusiasm of the artists shines through in the recordings. This unique ensemble has a pitch range from A1 to A#3. Articulations include short and long notes, legatos, marcatos of vowels AA and UU, sung in various styles like espressivo and sforzato, with crescendos and diminuendos. There's also humming and combinations of consonants with vowels. The library offers a wide range of lower register effects like 'om', 'hey', deep shouting, and more, making it a treasure trove of archaic sounds. To capture the amazing ambience of 'Stage A', our engineers used seven phase - coherent microphone configurations. All are available as separate channels in the Vienna Synchron Player, with pre - configured mixer presets for different tonal characteristics. You can mix the choir in stereo, 5.1 surround, Dolby Atmos, 9.1 Auro 3D, or other immersive audio formats. The Standard and Full Libraries have the same articulations, but differ in the number of microphone positions. The Standard Library has four positions: Close Mic - Stereo, Mid Mic - Stereo, Main/Room Mic - Decca Tree Stereo, and Main/Room Mic - Decca Tree Mono. The Full Library adds three more: Main Surround - Stereo, High Stereo (3D) - Stereo, and High Surround (3D) - Stereo.

Using this Basso Profondo Choir library is easy. First, open it in the Vienna Synchron Player. You can choose from different microphone positions according to your preference. If you want a more intimate sound, go for the Close Mic - Stereo. For a wider ambience, try the Main/Room Mic - Decca Tree Stereo. Use the pre - configured mixer presets to quickly get the tonal characteristic you like, whether it's classic, ambient, or with church reverb. You can also mix the choir in different audio formats like stereo, 5.1 surround, etc. When using the articulations, experiment with short and long notes, different vowel sounds, and effects to create unique musical pieces.
