The Latecomer to the Orchestra
Among standard woodwinds, the clarinet was the last to join the symphony orchestra. The Eb clarinet, a sopranino type, has a higher pitch than the common Bb clarinet.
Recorded in the dry and controlled Silent Stage studio, it offers all common articulations.

The Little Sister
Measuring only 49 cm (19.3”), the Eb clarinet is a fourth higher than the Bb clarinet. It's not common in orchestras and marching bands but is important in clarinet choirs.
Bright Sound
In the orchestra, usually one musician plays the Eb clarinet due to its bright sound like the piccolo flute. There are great pieces written for it by composers like Giacinto Scelsi, Arnold Schönberg, and Anton Webern.
Sampling Perfection
The library has a full set of articulations, including short/long notes, legato (even fast legatos for trills), crescendos/diminuendos, sfz, sffz, pfp, flutter tongue, and repetitions. Dry recording at the Silent Stage allows you to place samples on your virtual stage and integrate them with the Synchron Series using the internal convolution reverb of Synchron Stage Vienna.
Using the VSL Studio's Special Eb Clarinet is easy. First, select the articulation you need from the full set available in the library, like short or long notes, legato, or flutter tongue. You can use the mixer presets for an authentic sound at the Synchron Stage Vienna. If you want to place it in your own virtual acoustic environment, just switch off the internal reverb. When using it in an orchestra setting, remember it has a bright sound similar to a piccolo flute, so it usually works well when played by one musician. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry place to protect the samples recorded in the dry Silent Stage environment. Also, make sure your software is up - to - date to fully enjoy all the features this great Eb clarinet library offers.
