Product Detail

The PSI Marimba is a top - notch virtual instrument with 52 notes and 10,221 samples. It takes up 6.2 GB (3.2 GB compressed) and can be played on the full version of Kontakt 4.2.2 and above. Phase alignment of each note's audio ensures a focused tone. It offers a detailed, audiophile - friendly, and characterful recreation of a world - class marimba. We used 5 microphone positions to capture the sound of this 6 - foot long marimba, providing endless acoustic possibilities. You can blend 'Center', 'Stereo', 'Wide', 'Ribbon', and 'Room' mics using the GUI faders. Close mics include a Neumann TLM 103 (Center), a Neumann KM184 pair (Stereo), and an AKG C414 B - ULS pair (Wide). Ambient mics are a Coles 4038 pair (Ribbon) and a Neumann u87 pair (Room). We intensively sampled each note of a Robert Van Sice Artist Series 4 & 1/3 Octave Rosewood Marimba in our cinematic live room with 9 microphones and up to 23 velocity levels. There are two main instruments: 'Main' with felt beaters and 'Soft' with softer beaters, both having rolls and straight hits. There are also two patches for just rolls. The 'Main' instruments have a 'Less Stereo Width' version. Additionally, there are 5 bonus patches with different beaters and intervals.

Using the PSI Marimba is easy. First, make sure you have the full version of Kontakt 4.2.2 or higher installed on your device. Once you load the instrument, you can use the faders on the GUI to blend different microphone positions according to your needs. For different sounds, choose between the 'Main' and 'Soft' instruments. If you just want the roll effect, use the dedicated patches. When you need a narrower stereo field, select the 'Less Stereo Width' version. Remember to keep your software updated to ensure the best performance. As for maintenance, since it's a virtual instrument, you don't have to worry about physical wear - and - tear. But make sure to back up your instrument files regularly to avoid data loss.
