The official Jensen IR library is based on the 8-inch P8R, 35W ceramic speaker from the Vintage series. The P8R, an iconic speaker, has been used in thousands of Champ and Princeton style amps for years. It sounds slightly clearer than its ceramic cousin, the C8R, and shines in clean and slightly crunchy tones. The typical chime of the AlNiCo magnets makes the sparkling harmonics stand out. While 8-inch speakers may seem a bit small in a typical small open-back cabinet, they offer an incredibly balanced and extended tone. The proximity effect of 18 microphones in 16 positions, as per the classic Overloud procedure, enhances the bass. This library also includes a remastered version of all IRs. Vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. Back then, the maximum overdrive came from the amplifier's natural clipping and compression and some early fuzz pedals. These speakers were tuned for a sparkly treble response with lots of energy above 6kHz, to pair with warm circuits and thin, resonant cabinets. The IRs of Vintage Jensen Speakers are bright, clear, and detailed. In the modern high-gain world, the treble energy can sometimes make the tone overly bright and aggressive. So, we offer a 'Remastered' option with a warmer and less prominent top-end response, suitable for contemporary high-gain applications. It's like a virtual 'aged tone' that opens up new sounds for every use. The 'Remastered' version effectively doubles all IRs in the library, giving players more possibilities. This library is made for TH-U Supercabinet, which lets you graphically browse IRs, blend them, create new cabinet tones in Multiband mode, use IRs in the software, and export them in .wav for software IR loaders and major hardware modelers. The microphones used include AKG C12, C414, C414 XLS, Audio Technica AT4033, and more. Each microphone was placed in 4 horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles, resulting in 16 IRs per mic. All measurements were repeated for each cabinet in the library. All IRs are phase-aligned and can be blended without phase cancellations.
Using this Overloud SuperCabinet Library is easy. First, make sure you have the TH - U Supercabinet software installed. Once installed, you can graphically browse through the IRs in the library. You can blend different IRs together to create your unique cabinet tones. The Multiband mode is a great feature to craft new and exciting sounds. If you want to use the IRs in other software, you can export them in .wav format, which is compatible with most software IR loaders and major hardware modelers. When it comes to the remastered version, it's a great option for modern high - gain tones. If you find the original IRs too bright for your contemporary setups, switch to the remastered ones. As for maintenance, keep your software up - to - date to ensure compatibility and optimal performance. Since this is a digital library, there's no physical wear and tear, but make sure to back up your files regularly in case of any data loss.
