The Choptones Supercab IR Library is a gem, capturing a VHT 4x12 cabinet with VHT P50 - E speakers. It's an extensive capture using 11 microphones, each placed in 8 - 16 positions, and multiple Mic preamps, resulting in over 300 IRs. The slanted - front, closed - back cabinet made of Birch plywood is a solid 90s classic. The USA - made Eminence speakers, re - branded as VHT or Fryette, are ideal for Metal with their deep lows and unique midrange. Captures are done with a motorized mic stand for consistency. This library is designed for the TH - U Supercabinet. You can graphically browse IRs, blend multiple ones for custom guitar tones, create new cabinet tones in Multiband mode, and export your crafted IRs in .wav format for major hardware modelers and software IR loaders. The microphones used include AKG C414, Audio Technica 2035, and more. Each microphone was placed in 4 horizontal positions and 2 distances, and for some, measurements were repeated off - axis. All measurements were done twice with different Mic preamps, a Neve 1073 and a German preamp.
Using this library is easy. First, if you have the TH - U Supercabinet, simply load the library into it. You can then start graphically browsing through the different IRs to find the tone you like. To create custom tones, blend multiple IRs together. The Multiband mode is great for crafting new cabinet tones, just play around with it to find your unique sound. If you want to use the IRs with other hardware modelers or software IR loaders, export them in .wav format. When handling the library, make sure your device has enough storage space to hold all the IRs. Also, keep your TH - U Supercabinet or other devices updated to ensure compatibility. As for maintenance, there's not much to do for the library itself. But if you're using a physical device like the TH - U Supercabinet, keep it in a clean and dry place to avoid any damage.
